Lieutenant Colonel Joshua W. Munsee

Lieutenant Colonel Joshua W. Munsee was born in Grand Rapids, MI. In May 2004, he enlisted into the Marine Corps Reserve as a Rifleman. Upon completion of Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton, he was assigned to Charlie Company, 1st Battalion 24th Marines in Lansing, Michigan. In the summer of 2006, Lance Corporal Munsee activated and deployed to Fallujah, Iraq executing counterinsurgency operations in support of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. In December 2008, he received his bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University and subsequently commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.

Second Lieutenant Munsee graduated The Basic School in 2009 and was ordered to Camp Johnson, North Carolina to attend the Financial Management Officer’s Course. Upon graduation, Second Lieutenant Munsee was assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force Disbursing Office as the Separations Section Officer In-Charge. In the summer of 2011, First Lieutenant Munsee deployed to Afghanistan in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM as the Camp Leatherneck Disbursing Officer. Two months into the deployment, First Lieutenant Munsee conducted a voluntary lateral move to logistics and assumed responsibilities as the Maintenance Detachment Commander in Sangin, Afghanistan, in support of Regimental Combat Team 6.

Upon redeployment, First Lieutenant Munsee graduated with distinction from the Logistics Officer’s Course and was subsequently assigned to the 2d Marine Regiment as the Motor Transportation Officer. After a promotion in 2013, Captain Munsee deployed with Task Force Belleau Wood and conducted convoy operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Upon redeployment, Captain Munsee was assigned to 2d Reconnaissance Battalion as the Battalion Logistics Officer in 2014.  

After a successful tour at 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, Captain Munsee attended the Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course at Fort Lee, VA and was subsequently assigned to The Basic School from 2017-2020, where he served as a Warfighting Instructor, Staff Platoon Commander (Basic Officer Course 3-18), Combat Instructor Battalion Operations Officer, and Company Commander for Basic Officer Course 1-20.

Following The Basic School, Major Munsee served as the Logistics Officer for Marine Aircraft Group 13 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma from 2020-2024.  At Marine Aircraft Group 13, he oversaw the fulfillment of logistical requirements for four F-35B squadrons and an unmanned aerial vehicle squadron while participating in a Lightning Carrier exercise aboard the USS Tripoli, a Service Level Training Exercise, and Marine Aviation Support Activity 2024 in the Philippines.

Upon return from the Philippines, Major Munsee transitioned to Camp Pendleton to perform duties as Operations Officer for Combat Logistics Regiment One where he was promoted to his current rank. He directed logistical support to the First Marine Division while supporting exercise STEEL KNIGHT 2024, and support to Southwest Border Operations and Los Angeles Wildfire recovery efforts. After one year, he and his family transitioned back to Yuma. 

Lieutenant Colonel Munsee is a graduate of Expeditionary Warfighting School (Distant Education), US Army’s Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course (Distinguished Honor Graduate), Marine Corps Command and Staff College (Distant Education), and possesses a Master’s Degree of Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology.
