Lieutenant Colonel Mike Golike was raised in Fredericksburg, VA. He was commissioned a Marine Second Lieutenant on 14 May 2007 after graduating cum laude from the Virginia Military Institute with Bachelor of Arts degrees in French and International Studies.
After graduation from The Basic School, Second Lieutenant Golike reported to flight training. First Lieutenant Golike received his naval aviator wings on 14 May 2010 after training at Naval Air Stations Pensacola, Corpus Christi, and Kingsville. He underwent F/A-18 Hornet Fleet Replacement Squadron training at Fighter Attack Squadron 106 aboard Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia.
In September of 2011, First Lieutenant Golike became a “Hawk” with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533 onboard Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina. While a Hawk, Capt Golike deployed twice to the Western Pacific in support of the Unit.
Deployment Program. Captain Golike graduated from the Marine Division Tactics Course in 2014 and served in various billets to include the Airframes Officer, NATOPS Officer, and the Pilot Training Officer.
Captain Golike’s next assignment was as Air Officer and Forward Air Controller with 2nd Tank Battalion in July of 2015 aboard Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. While with the “Ironhorse Battalion” Captain Golike served as the Joint Terminal Attack Controller program manager, RQ-11 small Unmanned Aerial Systems program manager, and crewman loader onboard the M1A1 Abrams Tank.
Following his Forward Air Controller tour, Captain Golike was once again a Hawk where he served as the Pilot Training Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. He attended the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course and again deployed on the Unit Deployment Program.
In July of 2019, Major Golike joined the Hornet Division of Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron One where he served as an instructor pilot and the Academics Department Head. There, Major Golike instructed Air to Air Employment, Air to Air Mission Planning, Night Systems Instruction, Low Altitude Tactics, and Weaponeering.
Major Golike was then assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 312 in July of 2022. While with the “Checkerboards” he served as the Operations Officer and deployed once again to the Western Pacific in support of the Unit Deployment Program. In July of 2024, Lieutenant Colonel Golike completed his F-35B transition training and reported to Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.
His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
