LtCol Benjamin Leatherbury is a 2006 graduate of Indiana University. He was commissioned through Officer Candidate School and assigned as a communications officer upon graduating from The Basic School.
Operating force assignments include the 7th Communications Battalion, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Gulf Cooperation Council J6, assistant communications officer for the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Executive Officer for the 8th Communications Battalion, and Information Management Officer for the II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Staff assignments include Expeditionary Strike Group Seven marine communications detachment officer in charge, Information Command, Control, Communications, and Computers action officer and occupational field manager, Deputy Commandant for Information aide-de-camp, and his most recent assignment as the Joint Task Force National Capital Region chief of plans.
LtCol Leatherbury’s military education includes: The Basic Communication Officer Course, Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School non-resident and resident courses, Advanced Communication Officer Course, and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, where he earned an MA in Military Studies.
