Sergeant Major Duane W. Brown

Sergeant Major Duane W. Brown enlisted in the Marine Corps in September 2001 and completed recruit training at MCRD Parris Island South Carolina. Upon graduation, Sergeant Major attended Marine Combat Training, shortly afterward he attended his Military Occupational School as a Basic Warehouseman in Camp Johnson, North Carolina, and attained the MOS of 3051.

In February of 2002, Sergeant Major Brown reported to the 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd FSSG in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina for assignment as a warehouse clerk.  During this period Sergeant Major Brown deployed to Kuwait in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. During this deployment, he received a combat meritorious promotion to the rank of Corporal.

In March of 2005, Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to Combat Service Support Group 3 (CSSG-3) in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii as the Training Non-Commission Officer. In September of 2006, Sergeant Major Brown was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and requested orders to Drill Instructor School. 

In October of 2007, Sergeant Major Brown reported to Drill Instructor School at MCRD Parris Island South, Carolina, upon completion of Drill Instructor School Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to Company H and Receiving Company.  Where he held the billets of Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor of Recruit Separation Platoon, and Medical Liaison Drill Instructor.   

In January 2011, Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion-1 (CLB-1), Camp Pendleton, California as the Battalion Warehouse Chief.  In September of 2011, Sergeant Major Brown was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, and shortly afterward deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 12.1 and 12.2 in the Southern Helmand Province.

In April of 2012, and his return to deployment, Sergeant Major Brown assumed the duties as Company Gunnery Sergeant for (CLB-1) Headquarters and Service Company. In June of 2013, Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to Combat Logistic Regimnet-15 (CLR-15), 1st Supply Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California as the Bulk Storage SNCOIC.

In April of 2014, Sergeant Major Brown Deployed to Afghanistan Southern Helmand Province with (CLR-15) Retrograde Team-5, as the Ground Combat Element Chief. In this billet, he was responsible for retrieving all Marine Corps assets from various FOBs and prepping for the departure of the theatre. In addition to this deployment, he also held the billet as Company Gunnery Sergeant.

In August of 2015, Sergeant Major Brown reported to MCRD San Diego, California Headquarters and Service Battalion, Recruit Clothing Section, where he assumed the billets as the Senior Enlisted Advisor and Depot Clothing Chief for recruit clothing. In September of 2016, Sergeant Major Brown was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.

In August of 2018, Sergeant Major Brown reported to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1, Okinawa, Japan for duty as the Squadron ground side Warehouse Chief. In addition to this duty, Sergeant Major Brown would also assume the duties of Squadron Gunnery Sergeant and Uniformed Readiness Coordinator. In March 2020 Sergeant Major Brown was promoted to First Sergeant and was immediately assigned to report to Camp Courtney, 3RD MAR DIV for duty. 

Sergeant Major Brown reported to Camp Courtney, 3DMAR DIV, HQBN, Headquarters Company to serve as the Company's First Sergeant. In addition to this assignment in August 2020 Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to Communication Company, as the Company's First Sergeant.

In June of 2021, Sergeant Major Brown was assigned to 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), Joint Base Lewis McChord, Tacoma, Washington as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader.

Sergeant Major Brown was promoted to his current rank in January 2025.

Sergeant Major Brown's personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with a silver star in lieu of the sixth award, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service medal.
