Executive Officer, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 214
Major John Rose

Major Rose currently serves as the Executive Officer of Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 214.

Major John Rose is a 2008 graduate of San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.  He was commissioned in August 2008, designated a Naval Aviator in March 2012 and completed his initial qualification in the F/A-18 in April 2013.

Major Rose’s operational assignments include a carrier-based deployment with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 251 aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, Air Officer at 1st Marine Raider Battalion (MSOC C) in the Southern Philippines in support of OPERATION PACIFIC EAGLE and as the MAG-13 Pilot Training Officer. He held squadron billets in operations and maintenance to include Powerline Officer, Quality Assurance Officer and Future Operations Officer.  At 1st Marine Raider Battalion, Major Rose held the billets of Company Air Officer, Battalion Air Officer and Special Operations Task Force 511.2 Operations Officer. 

Major Rose’s non-operational assignments include instructor pilot duty at Navy Fighter Weapon School (TOPGUN) where he served as the Close Air Support subject matter expert, Senior Marine, USMC Liaison, and F-35 Maintenance Liaison.

Major Rose has over 1,400 mishap free flight hours in the F/A-18A-D and the F-35A/B/C.  He is a graduate of the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), MAWTS-1 Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course (WTI), and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) course. He is married to his wife of 7 years, and they have two children.
