Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin J. Kiley

Lieutenant Colonel Benjamin Kiley is a native of Clyde, New York. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 18 February 1999 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Saint Mary College and was commissioned via Officer Candidates School in August 2004.  Following The Basic School, he completed Primary MOS School as an Air Traffic Control Officer at Marine Aviation Training Support Group 21.

Lieutenant Colonel Kiley took command of Marine Air Control Squadron 1, 8 June 2022.  He has served as a company / battery commander with Air Traffic Control Detachment Alpha, Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Airfield Operations Flight, 46 Operations Support Squadron, and Headquarters and Service Battery, 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion.

Lieutenant Colonel Kiley's operating forces assignments include tours with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 1, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 49, Marine Air Control Squadron 2, Marine Air Control Group 38, 3d Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, and Marine Air Control Squadron 1.  He has participated in Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, and ENDURING FREEDOM.

Lieutenant Colonel Kiley's additional assignments include Exchange Officer with the 46 Operations Support Squadron at Eglin AFB, Information Operations Division Head with Marine Aviation Weapons and Tactics Squadron 1, and the Air Traffic Control Resource Sponsor, Requirements Officer, and Occupational Field Sponsor with Headquarters Marine Corps, Department of Aviation.

Lieutenant Colonel Kiley is a graduate of The Basic School, Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course, Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff College, and the Advanced Information Operations Planners, Military Deception Officer, and OPSEC Planners courses from the Joint Force Staff College.  He holds a BA in Business Administration from Mount Saint Mary College.

Lieutenant Colonel Kiley's personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four Gold Stars in lieu of fifth award, the Air Force Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of second award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.  He was selected as the Marine Corps Aviation Association's Robert F. Gibson awardee as the Marine Aviation Command and Control System Officer of the year for 2014.
