SgtMaj Rodriguez enlisted in the Marine Corps on December 29, 1997 and attended recruit training at MCRD, San Diego, California. On May 1998, Private First Class Rodriguez graduated from MCT at Camp Pendleton, California and was assigned to the Personnel Administration School at Camp Johnson, North Carolina. In July 1998, Private First Class Rodriguez received orders to Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California. While at 1st Battalion, 1st Marines he deployed in support of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) and participated in Operations SOUTHERN WATCH and STABALISE INTERFET as an Administration Clerk. While assigned to 1st Battalion, 1st Marines he was promoted to Lance Corporal and meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal.
Corporal Rodriguez was reassigned to the Regimental Personnel Administration Center (RPAC), 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, and served as the Quality Assurance NCOIC section from January 2000 to February 2001. In March 2001, Corporal Rodriguez volunteered to deploy with 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines as the Battalion Unit Diary Chief. While assigned to 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines he deployed in support of the 11th MEU and participated in Operation SOUTHERN WATCH. In January 2002, Corporal Rodriguez transferred to MCAS Yuma Arizona where he served as the PCS NCOIC for the IPAC. In April 2002 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
In January 2005, Sergeant Rodriguez volunteered for Drill Instructor duty and attended Class 2-05, MCRD San Diego, California. He graduated from Drill Instructor School on March 2005. Sergeant Rodriguez was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion. He served in the billets of Drill Instructor, Experienced Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor and Chief Drill Instructor and was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Upon completion of a successful tour of Drill Instructor duty, Staff Sergeant Rodriguez reported to Marine Attack Squadron 211 (VMA-211) on May 2008 where he served as the Squadron's Administrative Chief. While at VMA-211 he deployed twice in support of the 31st MEU and participated in Exercises Cobra Gold, Balikatan, and Talisban Sabre. In April 2009 he was promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant.
On August 2011, Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez was transferred to I&I Lemoore, California where he served as the Administrative Chief. During this tour GySgt Rodriguez participated in many burial details, local ceremonies, and Annual Toys for Tots program. In addition, he assisted in different capacities with the Reservist Annual Training at different locations such as Camp Pendleton, San Luis Obispo Army Base, Barstow Fort Irwin Army Base, and Camp Roberts Army Base.
On March 2015, Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez was assigned as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor (AMOI) for Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. On January 2016 he was promoted to First Sergeant. During his AMOI tour, First Sergeant Rodriguez also served as Physical Trainning Instructor and Company First Sergeant at Officer Candidate School, Quantico, VA for two summer augmentation program.
On October 2016, First Sergeant Rodriguez reported to 3d Light Armored Reconnaissance (LAR) Battalion, Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, and was assigned as the Dragoons Company First Sergeant. He deployed in support of the Unit Deployment Program to Camp Schwab aboard Okinawa Japan. On May 2018, First Sergeant Rodriguez was reassigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 15, Headquarters Company where he served as the Headquarters Company First Sergeant. On July 2020, upon deactivation of CLR-15, 1stSgt Rodriguez was reassigned to Engineer Maintenance Company, 1st Maintenance Battalion.
On November 2020 Sergeant Major Rodriguez was promoted to his current rank. Sergeant Major Rodriguez personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars in lieu of fifth award and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star in lieu of second award.
