Retired Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Melissa Haskins speaks during an evening colors ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., June 10. Marines and Sailors of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing and MCAS Miramar hosted the event to recognize the services rendered by the San Diego Chargers to honor the military community. Haskins was personally effected by the Chargers when she underwent chemotherapy for leukemia. The team invited her to watch a practice and to eat lunch with them. Haskins claims that moment positively impacted her treatment and was thankful to be able to give recognition and appreciation back to the team.
