Sgt. Jacob Burkert, a tactical data system administrator with Marine Tactical Air Squadron (MTACS) 38, Marine Air Control Group (MACG) 38, 3rd MAW, explains the functional support of a Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) on a ‘shellback’ mounted on a High Mobility Multi-purposed Wheeled Vehicle to Maj. Gen. Kevin M. Iiams, the Commanding General of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., July 24. The CAC2S contains modernized equipment that supports multiple air combat element operations to enhance the operational, technical and performance capabilities in a deployed environment. Summer Fury is designed to increase the functionality and effectiveness of 3rd MAW, while also enhancing Marine-Air Ground Task Force and naval integration with participating I Marine Expeditionary Force and naval units.
