CATALINA ISLAND, Calif. – Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 373, Marine Wing Support Group (MWSG) 37, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, unload equipment from a barge at Catalina Island, Calif., Dec. 17. Marines unloaded utility and engineer assets as part of the “Airport in the Sky” air strip reconstruction project. Marines used the reconstruction of the airport runway as training methods of expeditionary concrete repair, airfield damage, and mobile power generation, horizontal and vertical construction for combat engineers and heavy equipment operators.
