U.S. Marine Corps, Major Gen. Christopher Mahoney, the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) commanding general, traveled to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, to obtain his initial qualification to operate the F-35, September 3, 2020. This marks the completion of F-35 qualifications for the commanding generals of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd MAW, further providing operational knowledge at the highest levels of Marine Corps aviation.
