Seen through night vision gear, Lance Cpl. Gary Cremeans, machine gunner, 3rd Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, and a 24-year-old heating, ventilating and air-conditioning technician from Austin, Texas, stands guard over two suspected insurgents, secured and detained in the background, during a nightly cordon and knock raid around Ramadi, Iraq, Dec. 23. The raid was part of a larger effort to maintain security and stability by disrupting the insurgency prior to elections.
