Cpl. John M. Kling, weather observer, Marine Wing Support Squadron 373, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepares to launch an expendable meteorological radiosonde attached to a free-flying weather balloon at Camp Korean Village, Iraq, Dec. 4. As the free-flying balloon rises, the radiosonde transmits temperature, pressure, humidity, and wind data via a high frequency radio signal until around 60,000 to 75,000 feet or whenever the weather balloon pops. The data is then uploaded to the Joint Army Air Force Weather Information Network website. Photo by Cpl. Paul Leicht
