Armed with a Squad Automatic Weapon and cold weather gear, Lance Cpl. William English, machine gunner, 1st Platoon, Company B, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, and a 23-year-old native of Houston, takes part in a security patrol around Ramadi, Iraq, Dec. 27. Like their predecessors in previous conflicts, today?s Marine infantry in Iraq are reinforcing a good relationship between government and local civilians with foot patrols on the front lines of an insurgency prior to elections January 30.
