Cpl. Daniel Esparza puts a salvaged part into the back of a humvee at Al Asad, Iraq, Sept.19, while Sgt. Shaun T. Lucas scans over the salvage lot for more parts. The vehicles are kept in a section of the Defense Reutilization and Marketing lot and are picked through by service members as a more convenient and quicker way to keep their vehicles running. Esparza, a native of Los Angeles, and Lucas, a native of Inwood, N.Y., are automotive organizational mechanics with Headquarters and Services Battery, 3rd Low Altitude Air Defense, Marine Wing Support Group 37 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward). They make up to three trips to the lot per week.
