Navy Lt. Alex B. Galifianakis, flight surgeon with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 466, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, discusses treatment with a Marine on stand-by to be medically evacuated for undisclosed reasons March 22, 2006, at Al Asad Air Base, Iraq. The injured Marine had recently received treatment here from the Marines and sailors with Alpha Surgical, Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group. The staff at Alpha Surgical handles the duties of both a shock trauma platoon and a ?Forward Resuscitative Surgical Suite?, manning emergency and operating rooms here. Since they took command a month ago, the unit has treated close to 200 patients, including Iraqi Security Forces soldiers and civilians, as well as several insurgents.
