Sgt. Luis C. Cardenas (left) and Staff Sgt. Dean J. Francini repair a piece of Ground Support Equipment gear at Al Taqaddum, Iraq, Aug. 30. Francini is the staff noncommissioned officer-in-charge of the Ground Support Equipment section, and Cardenas is a hydraulic mechanic with the GSE section. Both Marines are with Detachment A, Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16, Marine Aircraft Wing 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), and are responsible for 115 pieces of equipment that Marine helicopter squadrons use to test, troubleshoot and transport helicopters at Al Taqaddum. Cardenas is a Houston native, and Francini is a Berea, Ky., native.
