ARLINGTON, Va. - Sgt. Maj. Ramona D. Cook talks with Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas after the 8th Annual Women in the Military Wreath Laying Ceremony May 26 at the Women in Military Service for America Memorial. Cook was one of five senior female noncommissioned officers selected from each of the five branches of the military honored at the event. Attending the event was a surprise for Cook, but she was honored to represent women in the Marine Corps, Cook said. She is based with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif. Lee is a member of the Congressional Caucus for Women's Issues which hosts the annual event to educate members of Congress and the public about the sacrifices service women make for ?in America?s military efforts.?
