Cpl. Thomas D. Martinez fires the GAU-21 ramp-mounted weapon system at a makeshift target while Cpl. Mitchell C. J. Harquail advises him as the assistant gunner outside of Al Asad, Iraq, May 16. Martinez and Harquail are both crew chiefs and weapons and tactics instructors with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft Group 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. Martinez is a 22-year-old native of Durango, Colo. Harquail is a 26-year-old native of Sea Side, New Brunswick, Canada.
