Navy Lt. John R. Logan gave a class on the legend of the Al Asad Oasis May 20, when volunteers visited the site to clean the recent build up of garbage. According to Arabic legend, the Quran and other Islamic writings, the Al Asad Oasis was the campsite of Abraham, a patriarch of the Hebrew bible, during his journey from Ur to Harran. Logan is a chaplain with Marine Aircraft Group 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He is a Christiansted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, native.
