Lance Cpls. Rick W. Hamilton (left) and Matthew K. Vanfosson unscrew a panel from an F/A-18D Hornet at Al Asad, Iraq, Aug. 18. Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242, Marine Aircraft Group 16 (Reinforced), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), arrived here Aug. 13, taking responsibility from VMFA(AW)-533, MAG-16. The VMFA(AW)-242 Bats will provide close air support for friendly forces in Iraq as the Hawks of VMFA(AW)-533 provided during their seven-month rotation in Iraq. Hamilton is an airframe mechanic and Oakhurst, Calif., native. Vanfosson is an airframe mechanic and Greeneville, N.C., native.
