Six Navy air traffic controllers with Marine Wing Control Squadron 1 earned their Fleet Marine Force Warfare Specialist badges Sept. 2, becoming part of a small group of controllers. Approximately 15 percent of the more than 2,500 Navy ATCs have FMF badges. In comparison to Navy corpsmen and supply technicians, Navy controllers are less frequently attached to Marine units, according to Master Chief Petty Officer Jeff Brown, who works at the Navy Personnel Command and manages assignments for Navy air traffic controllers.
