Service members deployed to Al Asad, received a little taste of home March 10, when the country music duo Montgomery Gentry held a concert here in support of troops.

"I think this is awesome," said Gunnery Sgt. Clark A. Hovland, imagery analysis specialist, Marine All Weather Fighter Attack Squadron 533, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. "Where else but the United States would a musical group come to a war zone to show support for the service members?"

Despite the two-day sandstorm that covered Iraq prior to their performance, the group tried to get as many shows in as possible during their trip to the Middle East.

"It's a great honor for us to play here," said Eddie Montgomery, a member of Montgomery Gentry. "It's unbelievable what ya'll are out here doing for us. People tend to forget your sacrifices, so we try to be as vocal about it as possible."

The concert was coordinated by Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the USO to show support for the troops deployed overseas.
