The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Officer’s Wives Club held its 10th Annual Charity Golf Tournament aboard the MCAS Miramar golf course April 26.  According to Kallie Pitcock, OWC president and a Graham, Texas native, the golf tournament is this year’s sole fundraising event for the OWC scholarship award.

The scholarship is available to any MCAS Miramar dependent or former Miramar dependant for use toward a four-year college, certificate, trade school, or licensure.

“We’re helping our Marines, helping our families and we’re fundraising at our own base, so it means a lot more to see people handing them cash to get their education,” said Pitcock.

Applicants submit an essay and resume to an OCW team to be scored by a standard graded rubric. The number and amounts of the awards depend on how much money is raised. The tournament raised funds through entry fees, opportunity drawings and local corporate sponsors.
