Sgt. Maj. Patrick Kimble assumed his position as the new sergeant major of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing during an appointment ceremony aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Sept. 13.

The 3rd MAW community welcomed Kimble with open arms and he expressed his eagerness to get to work.

“We are already finishing each other’s sentences as we go along,” said Maj. Gen. Steven Busby, 3rd MAW commanding general. “Can’t get any better than that.”

The newly appointed sergeant major served the wing earlier in his career and has a full understanding of what’s expected.

Sgt. Maj. Kimble is exactly what we want, added Busby.

After receiving the microphone from the commanding general, Kimble proceeded to say a few words entailing his appointment.

“Thanks for the trust and confidence, and giving me the opportunity to come and work for the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing,” said Kimble.

Kimble has a saying and believes that being a Marine is a love affair of the heart.

“If you are not fully committed to being a Marine, you might as well pack your bags,” he added.

Kimble is committed to helping his Marines and will do his best to find a solution to problems in the air wing.

“If I can teach them half of what I know today, I wonder where they will be tomorrow?” he explained.

Kimble reassured the audience and gave thanks to his wife for being by his side during his career, and affirmed that he is definitely committed and engaged and expects to have a fantastic tour.
