The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Falcons received their first loss of the season against the 1st Radio Battalion Freqs, 34-3, at Paige Field House aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 7.

The Falcons faced off against the Freqs and started strong early in the game. The Falcons struck first with 7:56 left in the first quarter by kicking a field goal putting them up 3-0.

The Falcon’s momentum started to diminish after the Freq’s offense drove down field and scored the first touchdown of the game. The Freqs attempted a two-point conversion but, were denied by the Falcon’s defense making the score 6-3.

The following Falcon’s possession was plagued by penalties and they soon found themselves back against their own goal line. The Freq’s defense would force a fumble and recover the ball in the end zone resulting in a touchdown. The Falcons would fall behind 14-3.

“We have to execute better, that’s what it boils down to,” said Master Gunnery Sgt. Carlice Moffett, the Falcon’s head coach.

The Falcons would struggle the rest of the night against the Freqs, not able to get their offense started. Plagued by penalties and turnovers, the Falcons found themselves behind in the game 34-3.

“We took ourselves out of the game,” said Moffett. “We didn’t execute and play Falcon football like I know we are capable of doing.”

The Falcons will retake the field against the Marine Air Support Squadron 3, Oct. 15.
