Major Theresa A. Ghannoum

    Major Theresa Ghannoum is from Chino, CA and began her military career in 2007 at the United States Naval Academy.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and received her commission in May of 2011. After graduation, 2ndLt Ghannoum attended the Basic Officer Course at The Basic School in Quantico, VA with Fox Co (3-11), completing the course in February of 2012.

    After The Basic School, 2ndLt Ghannoum reported to MATSG-21 in Pensacola, FL for Aviation Preflight Indoctrination and Introductory Flight Screening. She completed Primary and Intermediate Naval Flight Officer Training flying in the T-6A and T-39 with the Wildcats of VT-10, and Advanced Flight Training flying in the T-39 and T-45C with the Sabrehawks of VT-86. Newly promoted 1stLt Ghannoum completed flight training in December of 2013, earning her Naval Flight Officer Wings of Gold and selected to fly the F/A-18D.

    In December of 2013, 1stLt Ghannoum reported to the Sharpshooters of VMFAT-101 in San Diego, CA for Fleet Replacement Squadron Training.  After completion, 1stLt Ghannoum reported to the Bats of VMFA(AW)-242 in Iwakuni, Japan where she served from May of 2015 to May of 2018 flying as a Weapons System Officer in the F/A-18D.   While serving with the Bats, Capt Ghannoum executed multiple detachments across the Pacific Theater in support of Theater Security Cooperation, with an emphasis on Korean Defense and South China Sea operations.  Capt Ghannoum served as Adjutant, Aviation Life Support Systems Officer in Charge, and Assistant Administrative Officer.

    In May of 2018, Capt Ghannoum reported to Expeditionary Warfare Training Group, Pacific in Coronado, CA where she earned the combat Military Operational Specialty of Forward Air Controller, becoming one of the first women to ever do so.  Upon earning this designation she reported to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion in Camp Pendleton, CA to serve as the Battalion Air Officer.  During this tour, Capt Ghannoum was selected by Headquarters Marine Corps for the Pilot Transition Program.

    In August of 2019, Capt Ghannoum reported to MATSG-22 in Corpus Christi, TX for follow on pilot training. Serving with the Rangers of VT-28 and the Golden Eagles of VT-22, Capt Ghannoum learned the skills required to fly the T-6B and T-45C, this time from the front seat.  Newly promoted Maj Ghannoum earned her second Wings of Gold in June of 2021.  Selected to fly the F-35B, Maj Ghannoum reported to VMFAT-502 in Beaufort, SC for Fleet Replacement Squadron training.   She accompanied the squadron while they executed a homeport move to Miramar, CA, where she completed the remaining portion of her syllabus.

    After completion of training in September of 2022, Maj Ghannoum reported to MCAS Yuma, AZ.  In October of 2022, Maj Ghannoum reported to The Wake Island Avengers of VMFA-211 where she is now serving as the Executive Officer.

    Maj Ghannoum personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.  She has accumulated over 1,000 mishap free flight hours and over 280 hours of mishap free pilot time.
