A native of Detroit, Michigan, Gunnery Sergeant Borders enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 2015 and attended recruit training aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina. Upon completion of recruit training, Private First Class Borders attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, North Carolina; and subsequently assigned to Personnel Administration School aboard Camp Johnson, North Carolina.
